Default Scapa Flow East entrance guide and maps.

After a successfull raid on Scapa Flow today, sinking 2 Capital Ships!
HMS Renown and the HMS Royal Sovereign!

I thought i'd share my route into Scapa Flow, as it may help other new players too.

My game version is SH5 with The Wolves Of Steel mod.

I marked the obstacles on the map with the Marker, Compass and Ruler map tools, with the help of the external camera (for accuracy of objects) once i'd safely got in, and hid quietly at Periscope depth before the attack.
This also enabled me to plot the route back out, knowing it was safe, without having to crawl along slowly looking for obstacles and constantly pinging depths like on the way in.

This is the East entrance to Scapa Flow also known as Lamb Holm or Holm sound IRL, and also the same route in this guy took https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%BCnther_Prien

You will need to do this under the cover of darkness as you need to surface to traverse the obstacles half way in, you will be out of sight of the Coastal defenses by then.

The shallowest depth below Keel i recorded on this route, was 9m (constant pinging on way in) and i traveled along at Dead Slow and 1/3.

First image shows east entrance with positions of Coastal Defenses and Mines (go to Peri depth to avoid been seen by the Coastal Defenses until surface mark)

Close up of mine positions

Yellow line is route i took (safe) once i surfaced. Mines marked with map marker x's, block ships and nets with ruler lines. The gaps between the mines and the semi-sunk block ship bow and stern i are bigger than they look here!

Overall picture of mines, block ships, subnets and route. Once clear of Coastal defenses view!
Be careful near end of yellow route on the left, as there are usually 2 escorts anchored in the small bay below the yellow arrow just as you enter Scapa.

Hope it helps, happy hunting!

John.
