Default Mk 37 swim out?

So I've noticed when launching torpedoes at close range vessels when not in their baffles they tend to hear the launch transients and immediately go evasive, makes sense except for the Mk 37... While I believe it can be launched conventionally the torpedo is 2" smaller than the tube to facilitate swim out in which case there shouldn't be any transient, right?

Currently in game all torpedoes seem to launch at cruise velocity, which in a way suggests that the Mk 37 is swimming out since a standard launch would eject it at high speed and then it would slow to cruise.

Am I crazy or does this make sense to you guys? If so, and if implemented in the game, this could add an advantage to the otherwise sad performance of the early wire-guided weapon.

--PS, I suppose it's also possible they're hearing the torpedo screws in cruise rather than the launch itself. Not sure how quiet those props are...
