I read an account (I cant remember if it was O'Kane or somebody else) of a freighter that dodge a torp spread from a US sub at PD and ran down the wakes to the now diving sub.

The skipper felt it was the smart thing to do since he lost the advantage of surprise and it seemed the freighter was going on the offense. During the dive the sub was rocked by several close depth charges. Since he hadnt seen any other ships is determined the frieghter was an old US Q-ship that was purchased by Japan between wars. I think he IDed it as an old Hog Islander.
