I see this method is a little confusing, sorry for that.
I'd like to suggest you a really different approach: try to re-use original .eqp file (re-download it if you've not made a backup copy), open it with notepad and REPLACE every 19391231 date with 19381231
and every 19400101 with 19390101,
BUT DON'T TOUCH THOSE EQUIPMENTS(p06 node):

After this, Replace "VdOblos" and "VdObDark" with "VdWarOblos in Equipment 22 and 87.
This should work, with this method you just anticipate ship's conversion to AMC.
