As a general rule, it is advised that all MP's have EXACTLY the same set of core files. For this reason, many of us have two installs, one basic & default install for MP & a fully modded one for our own use.
You can play MP with no problems with default installs of Stock, GWX, NYGM, WAC etc etc.
Now, here's the crunch! You can use graphic mods, example sub skins & ship skins ONLY if they are texture mods only, NOT in a DAT format. With this in mind, if you have these added to you game then you will be the only one to see them. If your MP friends have different versions installed, then they will see their own versions.
Weird! If you have a skin for the VIIC, lets say Skin1 & your friend has Skin2, when you look at the VIIC in MP you will see Skin1 but your friend will see Skin2.
Haha, all in all it's best not to try to complicate matters in MP and just keep everything as a default install.
