Yes. I realize that now. After some trial and error to find the limits of the 262, I got to where I can fly it. But, my instinct to punch the throttle in danger to get some speed fails me. You definitely can't fly it like a P-40.
I was dogfighting in a He-162. They are the same way. When I'm stalling with flaps to some trees (this has worked in IL-2 for me before) on purpose to lose what's on my tail. Usually I just punch it at the treetops and up flaps/WEP out of there. But no. I turn into a V-1 Rocket and usually blow up. I've gotten Jap fighters that way with the P-40 on the first Pearl Harbor mission. The downside being that if I screw up, I crash miserably.
