In GWX:

Click on the shallow depth dial, on 7, but as close to 8 as you can.
The boat will slowly drop to decks-awash, so only the conning tower will be above the water, making the boat very hard to spot for the enemy, while still having the benefits of being surfaced (UZO, air etc.)
