Make sure you take a look at Wolfpack345 and Tonci87 on youtube. Wolfpack plays most subsims but keeps coming back to SH3.

Seems to me the state of the supermod art these days is a friendly contest between OneAlex's version of GWX and Fifi's enhanced hardcore version of NYGM. LSH gets an honourable mention as the first to really polish the game graphics but was always a bit too easy IMHO.
I think Onealex wins for someone new or returning to the game as it is a fairly painless install.
