There was a special sort of U-Boat called "U-flak boats" U-221 , U-263 and U-271 where some of these sort, but returned to duty as traditional VIIC attack boats.
I think the most U-Boats used the Zwillings Flak. And the most used to dive and don't try to destroy the planes.
