But honestly, I'm more excited about just having a properly-sized fleet boat. I don't even care about the extended range all that much; it's just that the size affords it plenty of freedom that the Typ VII just wouldn't provide. More torpedoes, more spacious living quarters, higher top speed, bigger deck gun, more deck guns, an extra torpedo tube... ach ja,

And, I mean, the increased range is also nice. One of my favorite parts of SH5 was operating out of Dakar, so the range would definitely come in handy there. Ahh, sinking unescorted convoys off the coast of Africa... and it felt like 1 in every 3 kills I made was with the deck gun. Submariner's paradise, jawohl meine Herr'n!
...aaaand we still don't have the IX. If only mere imagination could conjure the code and graphical models necessary for such an addition.
