I am thinking along the lines of triple 15 or 16 inch guns. Maybe both, the first as stock, the latter as an upgrade. The 5.25"/50 was an aweful weapon all around. Slow train and elevation rates, slow rof, and a light shell. The 5"/38 is so much better in every way. 6 inch guns, even the ones on the Worcester were still a tad too slow for a dp gun. The ones on the Worcester is by far the best ones. A WWII auto loader for a gun that caliber would be slow, very slow. Negating any other improvements it brings.
