They have had several incidents of this happening namely K219 in 1986, TK17 in 1991 and possible K129 in 1969 as well as other such incidents.

As for Kursk I may have watched this a while back will have to watch again to refresh and give pointers but I did spend a lot of time researching with this particular boat.
