Tragic indeed. Her father made the Great Santini look like a model father; she also lived in the era just before significant stride were made in the field of metal health; if she had been born a few years later, her life may have turned out differently. If you want to get an idea of her life, there was a pretty good film made of her titled Factory Girl, starring Sienna Miller; it can be a bit of a downer, but it offers a good look at her experiences and the times around her...
