Well known bug introduced in 1.5. Apparently Alt+tabbing out of the game is the cause, at least one of them, and as you noticed saving and reloading cures it. Another funnier variation is crewmembers remaining on the deck when you dive and carefully scanning the surroundings with their binoculars
