Is there a way to delete/make units disappear in the middle of a mission?

Theres the option in events: Update Instance - Instance Name - Delete
and I tried to put the exit date for units just a few minutes after the entry date but either of them didnt work.

Im trying to make a mission where you have to sink a merchant ship and if you succeed or time runs out the escorts would disappear so you can end the mission successfully without having to spend hours underwater evading the escorts.
