For me it's part relaxation and part nostalgia. The trains I grew up with have all mostly been consigned to the scrapyard or to preserved railways, so to be able to see and hear these locos in the sim takes me back to the times when summer seemed to go on forever, the days were always just the right temperature and sunny, and all those other clichés.

Ok, not exactly summer I know, but the rain effects are too good! A Crompton (Class 33) on a freight service, something I used to see a lot as a kid.

Typical Cumbrian weather. Two Class 37s lead a railtour over Ribblehead viaduct. Fortunately when I went to Ribblehead it was on a rare sunny day!

A Hall class on Gods Wonderful Railway (Gone With Regret)

A lovely summers day at Bath Green Park, with a 4F coupled up to a local passenger service. A scene I dearly wish I could have witnessed in reality, but alas Bath Green Park is now a car park and the Somerset and Dorset Railway is a fading memory. Just don't tell the woman on the far right who looks like she's about to walk into that lamp-post...
