It's been a year since I was held down like that. FOTRSU usually has Superpoop on deck who drops one charge on your conning tower. And I don't get as much chance to play as I once did with the modding going on. Somewhere, Ducimus is laughing at me.

Running my "early war" sim.cfg have been testing so DD's in 41/42 and early 43 are not such pushovers, liking results so far as they pose a threat but are not on the level of 1944. Typically when hit 250 feet is when they start having trouble keeping up with sub, so venture to 300 as many boats rated for 250 learned to do. Noticed their charges were often exploding above at 250 feet or so. Kind of mimics what was happening before Congressman May ran his mouth.Thing is quickly learn to not assume as may drop 4 charges and 3 may explode at 250 but one may drop to 300 or so and give a shock. The hunt time is set to 900 minutes as found in RSRD with TMO they were giving up too soon, but even so have not them hunt like did in the encounter mentioned above. Thinking the donation narwhal even at silent running and running at 2 knots is a noisy boat
compared to others, so they would lose contact and get back in touch.

Same in my experience as well, subchasers as well Type A C D escorts are usually the toughest opponents. I will never forget one encounter with the aux subchaser in TMO many moons ago.Short version, I had been playing maybe a month. Slipped inside the screen of a convoy , sunk two tankers, really thought I had done something lol.Two DE types left me alone after a while dropping charges, rejoined convoy. This aux subchaser stayed behind, hunting me. Dropping one or two charges here and there, causing damage. Everytime I would believe he was gone, boom right there.

Finally when came scope depth after 18 hours, seas had picked up which masked my sounds. Saw him sitting still listening for me. Fired a Mark 18 , sunk him. Never could regain contact on the convoy though so served his purpose.

For some reason in RSRD fleet destroyers were handicapped. Many are not equipped with the proper sonar gear etc. Many are missing one or both DC racks and just have the y guns which Makes them unable to lay down effective patterns. Thinking may have been an oversight, error , cant think why it would be done on purpose. Part of my reworking of the ship pack i released is reworking SNS and EQP files for the IJN destroyers.
