Default Longest have been hunted?

Longest you have been hunted? anyone else ran into this? Given I changed up my sim.cfg but surprised me were this persistent. Believe the escorts skill were set to 3(Veteran) seas were calm.

TMO RSRD
USS Nautilus(Donation Narwhal)

Encountered a task force(Port Moresby invasion force, departing ) south end of st georges channel(Rabaul) on May 5th 1942 around 0530. Fired four torpedoes at Yubari light cruiser, two prematurely exploded, one ran under target, one missed just ahead of the bow when Yubari CL turned toward the torpedo.

TF had numerous transports and 6 or so DD's escorting. Four about two hours the were on me even at 300 feet, did some minor damage, minor flooding. Two persistent vessels(assume DD's, external cam off) kept pinging, making dry runs and dropping a few charges. Finally they seemed to lose contact but would come back and ping, drop a charge here or there.

( I had somewhere to leave so paused the game) came back this evening, continued evasion. One DD after what was now in the game six hours of being hunted, seemed to have a fix on me and dropped a couple close ones before going ghost(assuming to listen) while other one pinged around dropping charges in distant. One point they both went silent for about 20 minutes, then suddenly a few explosions which I assume was aircraft from Rabaul.

Then they started hunting again, each time I seemed to slip away, they seemed to get back on my trail. After 11 hours under, sonar reported "warship moving away very fast" and soon lost contact. Did they both leave or just one? Waited until after dusk. With air supply getting low, battery power below 50 percent and no sound contact for hours, decided to try for scope depth.Just as passed 100 feet, sound contact reported closing from 174 very fast.Back down we go to 300 feet. Few charges rocked the boat as passed 180 feet, minor damage to pumps.

Now had the former sleeper pinging away, dropping charges. Some came shockingly close, causing damage to conning tower.

Went to 350 feet, pushing it for the old boat. The persistent DD continued to hunt dropping charges here or then, going back to "sleep". Battery power was now below 25 percent, air getting low. Crew getting exhausted.

After more time silently creeping away.Guessing the even silent DD would be about 5000 yards astern, could surface and creep away in the dark and if needed, put the Nautilus's big guns to work.

Just as was about to order periscope depth, sonar reported a new warship contact closing. Sound check revealed what sounded like another destroyed, coming down the channel from Rabaul. Reinforcements. About this time, A nearby sound contact started up and began pinging, although the pings were quieter and seemed to not be reflecting directly off my boat. The DD roared by at high speed estimated distance about 800 yards away and dropped 6 charges.Six explosions follow by silence as engines stopped.

Soon the second warship arrived on scene, then sound reported both leaving area at very high speed.

Waited another hour, came to scope depth, all clear.Surfaced and headed away from area to charge batteries and regroup.

Nautilus had been under water evading for 21 1/2 hours. Battery was down to 10 percent.

Really been a long time since have been hunted like this. Reminds me of the old TMO days.
