I think this writer is a little bit out of the line, he doesn't mention the Russian SOKS system for a start which is a working alternative to SONAR and has in the past given the Russian boats the upper hand over Western boats (Specifically the November class and USN boomer out of Spain in the 80's)

I do think he misses some points in this not just on the Russian side but also on the western side.
