These do not go out until the storm passes. My trucks are parked inside the Relient Center so they do not blow away. This is were my generators are. These are for hospitals and other buildings that are part of the relief effort. It is a mess down there and looks like weeks of clean up. The coast is completely trashed. US&R to deploy this morning for those that did not want to leave Galveston. Helicopters are standing by. I fear US&R will not find many survivors in Galveston. But the attempt needs to be made. Now the chit hits the fan as the storm passes. I start work at 0900 this morning and will work until 0900 Sunday morning...or die in the process. My co-worker has been up since 0600 yesterday moving FEMA relief. I relieve him this morning.
AVG...please be carefull and keep us updated on the situation in Galveston!
I'm up in Maryland. Our crisis for the day is hoping the beer is cold. I get updates from my drivers and my representatives on the ground that direct my trucks on what to do. I handle the direct contact with FEMA here in Washington. Washington calls the shots. It has been quiet with new tasks/missions for FEMA. Once the damage is assessed, folks are rescued and the water spills back into the sea, I then will have my trucks move in as FEMA directs. Today was 45 loads of tarps dropping at Ft Sam Houston. I just finished those up. Need the tarps to cover homes that the roofs can be found 4 counties over The Army Corp of Engineers are handling truck loads of water today. It is a major operation and will be for weeks to come. My sister is ok. She did leave Houston and is staying at a friends house. No internet, no electricity...just a cell phone. Off to the races for me!
