This is
exactly why the storm surge is huge. Ike is pushing the water in the gulf towards Galveston and Sabine Pass. Here is a graphic from WGN's Tom Skilling explaining a few things also.
Ike is
bigger in size than Katrina was. You have all the water underneath the tropical force winds being shoved into NE TX/SW LA right now. Please note my links for buoy reports.
They are already reporting flooding as far East as New Orleans...yes...New Orleans.
