I think its a pretty good idea, would make things easier, but to maintain that might be a prob in the long run. With the new version of S3D its very very easy to plug in your values without any knowledge of hexing and or tweakfiles.
A backup solution would simply be to add a list of all the tweaks done, and then one could simply fire up S3D and update accordingly.
Actually that would be a cool feature in S3D, a bit what Jscones did with JSGME (exporting activated MOD list). After you change a .dat in S3D, the changes could be stored in a doc, simply as text, maybe even comparing before/ after... thinking loud here.
