Ship Losses:
City of Singapore (United Kingdom) The cargo ship caught fire at Adelaide, South Australia. A fireman was killed by an onboard explosion whilst fighting the fire. Having sunk, she was refloated on 5 May.
Martha (United States) While anchored with no one aboard during a blizzard, the 23.3-gross register ton schooner was washed onto a reef and wrecked at the east-northeast entrance to Catons Harbor (54°24′N 162°32′W) on Sanak Island in the Sanak Islands in the Gulf of Alaska.
