Diamonds book is about how cultures fell for reasonable motives, and how sometimes non-freedom was the precondition for avoiding the fall. The democratic zeitgeist hates to see that. I sometimes touched upon that too, when reminding of that ancient greek democracy was nlt a modern democratic free order of state, but pure feudalism.
