Mention was made of The Wrecking Crew and I had mentioned the great bass player Carol Kaye; I heard on the radio Wednesday that it was Carol's 86th birthday, which the station observed by playing a half dozen of the very varied recordings on which she performed; this is an overview of her astonishing career as a studio musician...

Carol played on hundreds of sessions and her full history/contributions may never be fully known; session musicians weren't normally credited on albums and many of the musicians/groups for whom they recorded tracks really didn't want their fans to know they weren't actually playing on all those hit record, so the session players were deliberately hidden and ignored; Carol is one of the very few whose body of work and innovations have made her a legend in the music world...


Happy 86th birthday Carol Kaye, and many more to come, and thank you for your contributions to music and the soundtracks of many generations...
