I've managed, but it's not easy. The problem you're going to have is they'll keep launching as long as you're alive. I think I stumbled onto a helo by accident in a campaign (or I was lingering too long listening with my ESM mast and made it easy for them), and sent off a wave of torpedoes from 3 or 4 escorts and like a half dozen helicopters from a soviet aircraft carier.
Somehow I survived the barage, but just as I would slow down, a new wave would launch. Well they actually forced me away, like 20KM away. and I used up my noisemakers in the flight. Ended up wounding the aircraft carrier and half the convoy (stuff I launched in desperation right when they started launching at me did the job) but the end result was emptying most of my weapons, defenses and 2 hours of time, to get almost no result.
Ever since there I learned to not depend so much on ESM when planning an attack on a convoy; Its a lot easier to get into knife range and take out the escorts with torpedoes, then it is to linger at the surface and plan missile strikes.
