Just came across this clip: there are songs and their recordings that are epic in scale and impress with production skills and enhanced performance; it takes a whole different talent to strip down massive production and get to the heart of the song. There are performers who will tell you the only true measure of the 'greatness' of a song is if it can be performed well with just an acoustic guitar; Here is a song we normally hear as a big production number reduced to one acoustic guitar and one voice and, in turn, elevated to real art:




I don't know who thought up the simple arrangement for the guitar part, but it kind of beats the heck out of an electric guitar and a wall of amplifiers. The tone and style of the voice blends and complements with the instrument. The whole presentation is near genius. I just wish the song had been complete; it is an annoying habit/practice of TV shows to truncate songs just to accommodate on-air time and to make room to sell you whatever their sponsors are shilling...
