Just to clarify,
I have the steam version of SH4, I didn't have to go through any extra steps to get mods working, I literally did exactly the same method as I did for my DVD version of SH3 (Three).
However, you have to get the "U-boat" add-on to patch it to V1.5.
Otherwise it is V1.3, the V1.4 patch just will not "take" on the Steam version.
Of course, this may be the "extra steps" Delanski mentioned.
I don't really like Steam, in fact I dislike all "on-line activation" garbage, however...
If I
must use an online activation "service", at least I can go off-line (for a year, when I got Fallout: New Vegas!) and not need to "check-in" every time I start the game.
