It is very easy to find the targets speed.
Bring up the stopwatch or use a kitchen timer.
The basis is you pause the game with the map opened wide so you can see the targets bow where you place a X mark on it and un-pause the game and start the stopwatch or timer.
After 3 minutes and 15 seconds you repeat the process pausing the game again.
With the compass measure the distance from X mark to X mark.
600metres = 6 knots 1200metres = 12 knots and so on.
If using the stopwatch you can always use a bit of TC rather than using real time.
