The pilot went through the roof of the commercial greenhouse in the background and suffered two broken lower legs and a broken thigh, and obvious cuts and bruises. The accident was in 1962, he was flying again within six months and back on Lightning test duties within a year. He retired in 1983, and gave up professional flying (exec and airline) when he reached 65 in 1993. Still holds a NPPL (basic licence but more restrictions due to age).
I've just looked at the crash location on Google Maps, the airfield is no more, but the greenhouses are still in the same location, albeit with new glass.
