Since the Windows 7 service pack update has come available, it always prompts to allow the update (it doesn't ever complete when I allow it, and I've read on the net that others have the same problem). That thing is a hog. I stopped the update and installer services and moved them to manual mode this morning. We'll see if this works.

Funny, I experience similar stuff on my pc too. Yesterday I installed the w7 updates and since then my pc is laging. Including SH5 where time by time I have the same issues as described by you. Today I had to reinstall SH5 as I was unable to start it, soon as I passed the loading screen, the game crashed. And I have similar performance issues with other games too.
I suspected that the updates are in culprit, but I have no clue which one to uninstall. If you find out something, let me know.
Regarding the mod, works just great and I really needed something like this. So thank you for this mod Stoian!
