It should be 100% compatible. The only thing it has any real effect on is that for one type of loadout on some of the planes, instead of carrying 8 bombs, they will carry 7 bombs and a light. I personally don't think it's a big enough difference.
Otherwise.... all it does is fill otherwise-empty slots on units.
