G7 Duds--Rate 194

Well 4 duds in a row......G7a's are crap can not use MAG or Impact to get these things to go off

Am I doing something wrong ? last 4 shots are on Impact and over range 800 meters.......

1) most shots are between 70-90 degrees when they hit
2) TP depth is closer to the Hull bottom but not at the lower edge(if that makes sense.
3) Dud TP were set 2- slow, 1-med,1-fast.

This is really breaking my boyz spirits and mine too..Hard to keep moral up with so many Duds.

Was the Dud rate that high for the Germans ? I know the US had TP troubles in early war.
But Crap I am running close to 40%. and in this New VIIb(1st patrol in her) I am at 80%

What gives ? :k_confused:

In real life the dud issue was horrendous for the Germans. In Operation Wasserabarung, Doernitz called the torps “useless”.

Are you setting the correct depth for the weather?

That's why you're getting so many "duds"...:yep: Impact angle is important both in horizontal and vertical axis. Impact detonators, torpedo depth ~2-3m, impact angle 70-90 deg and you wont have problems...

So, your saying If I use 2-3 meters(like you suggest)I will only have 45% chance to not have a DUD even when I hit.(If wind speed over 7 Meters)
At least according to the Video that was linked...(above)

I might as well just use the MAG stetting..which has little to no chance of going off in the early stage of the war I am in ATM. (5/29/1940)

In bad weather, if the wind is not so bad that I can set the torp for impact... I set for Magnetic impact still. The ship can be lifted high in the water, that the Torp passes under.

I have had good results.

I will try Mag but just got a Radio Report that said do not use them.....and have not had 1 go off yet..only shot 2
