Built-in Mood Music

How do you stop the built-in mood music?

I think this 'sticks' for both Campaign & other play, but I go into the Options menu in the game, for Sound, and turn the Music slider down most of the way to the left. Slide it all of the way left, and it should mute it. You can also delete / change the files, though I've not done that myself. They're in the "Game / Data / Sound / Music folder. They are in Ogg Vorbis format, most of them in "stereo" at 44.1kHz

Tnx, Propbeanie. The built-in background music interferes with all the sounds of the sub and hard work of the Modders; and, I've reached the age where it has become annoying. Tnx agn.

I don't know why I didn't think of this before, and I have done it in other games, but if you want to eliminate the music completely, you can either "mute" the audio file itself, if you are familiar with audio editors, or delete the file, and then replace it in name only, with a 'zero-length' file. You right-click in the Music folder, choose "Create new text file" on that context menu, name it the new file the same as the file just deleted and press <Enter>. Now select that new file and then change its name to not have the ".txt. on the end, if necessary, to just have the FileName.ogg :salute:

Follow up:

Turns out your Music Slider option was the best fix. I tried changing names (adding a #1 to the name) to the offending files but all that did was crash the game. Returned all to normal then tried the slider option. Back in business!

I can now hear the mold growing on the decks. :Kaleun_Salute:

Oooh, excellent. I was afraid that a missing file might crash SH4, hence my 2nd post. The muting of the file would probably be the best way to 'eliminate' the file, without eliminating it...
