Playing again after quite some time

I just downloaded SHIII from Steam. I haven't played it for quite a while, but I'm really enjoying it on my Windows 10 Laptop. It's just the 1.4 version with no mods, but such a lot of fun. Great memories :)

Welcome back to the Sea World of SH3. :Kaleun_Applaud:

It’s a fun way to kill a few hours for sure

Likewise

Like you, I’ve just returned to playing and am really enjoying it. Curious about the Das Boot game coming out in 2018.

Uboot will be released in Q2 of this year. It won't be like the Silent Hunter series. It focuses more on the day to day running of a U Boot, but the Devs are including some very nice touches. It will certainly be worth purchasing for someone like myself, but I don't think that the hard core sub simmers will go for it.

Especially depends on what sort of dynamic campaign it will have, if I see none I will hardly go for it, because when playing SHx all the sub handling is more in my head rather than running from room to room... And it's enough to play nice.
Of course if there are both good campaign and good sub interiors and handling, then it will be a boomer of game, at least as far as I can tell from the first vids.

You play SH3 on a laptop, then I recommend to use at least a 'Widescreen GUI mod' which will look much better in 16:9 resolutions.

Oh and: Welcome back!

One of the Devs stated it this way..........The game is going to be very moddable. It's really a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics, and its primary theme is the onboard life of the crew as in Das Boot. In UBOOT, you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health in order for morale to remain high. When trauma is high, a secret feature of each sailor can be disclosed. It can reveal his alcoholism, how much stress he's under, and he can also turn out to be a coward or even a spy. Kriegsmarine Headquarters will give you key missions to move forward with the historical stages of WWII, and you will be able to fight in new regions, and install better equipment at the dock. But your opponents will also grow stronger, and, for example, will equip their ships with radars or break the Enigma code. In UBOOT, each sailor will have his own face, his own story, personality, skills and weaknesses. The sailors will come either to report something to you, or just to talk some problems over. They will eat, talk, enjoy simple pastimes, queue to the only toilet on board, fight to decide whose girlfriend is prettier. You will see the lives of grey wolves in all its glory.

So it will be very different to the Silent Hunter series. :)

This reminds me of of a ww2 movie with Gary Grant as sub captain, he had to play the nurse at some point :haha:

:) Too funny. Honestly, I can see me playing SHIII for a real simulation experience, and U Boot for something different.
