the Narwhal mod
 
I downloaded the Narwhal mod, but I'm not sure it overwrote the "faux" Narwhal in TMO/RSRD. I never loaded that one, so I'm not sure, but the Narwhal I have doesn't seem as dark colored as the prize-winning mod, and it only fires from the forward gun.

Is this correct, or do I need to do something?

And, for the first time ever, I had a CTD on returning to base in Java, 2nd patrol. I don't think my computer likes the Narwhal, which is a darn shame. And I just lost a good deal of tonnage. :dead:

Maker sure you have the TMO compatible version.Also, it does overwrite the pseudo narwhal.The donation Narwhal works just fine with TMO RSRD for me.

The file I have is

New Narwhal K v 1.8.5

It says nothing in the download link about whether it is TMO2.5 compatible or not. Since it was made After TMO, I would assume it is. Am I correct? :06:


This is my full mod list- The first "catastrophic" error I had occurred only after the last addition. I had 15 successful "full soup" patrols before that. JSGME seemed to add Narwhal just fine, and it appears in the list.

I know you donated.(The subsim badge was proof of that.) He needs to remove the link so people who didn't donate can't download it.

The donation period is over, I got the link from simple forum search, which linked to a post back when i asked about a TMO version, the link was posted in said post.No need to remove the link.

Well, finally got the Proper Narwhal installed, and ran it out on a new career. ...or two. Which performances we are going to call "tests."

What it Can do.

Swiftly deal with a disabled merchant with its guns, and defeat a minelayer in open waters without much damage.

What it cannot do.

Sail across a convoy's "T" and gun it out with them. Merchants have 3" bow-chasers (lineage of the British 6-pounder gun?), and 9 of them make for a Large volume of fire. ...don't ask me how I know... :shifty:

Surface in a Harbor and duel it out with everything docked there. ...I heard somebody did this, it certainly wasn't me... :doh:

So, it seems the best thing to do is Forget you have 2 6" guns, and just know that if you're forced to the surface by a lone escort you have a Slightly better chance of winning than other boats would. Which is "not very good." :up:

It looks great btw, as advertised.

Well have to remember its still a sub lol. I wil say this, if you can ambush a DD or other small warship with those guns, meaning on a dark night from about 4000 yards, turn your broadside to them so both guns are on them at ideal angles and you operate one to ensure you score a fire hit, order to fire, fire and let the AI controlled one fire, you score two hits, then follow up, its devastating. Also in later war you can mount a forward and aft 40 MM in place of the .50 cal or 20 mm, operate one of those, plus let the AI 6 inch guns bang away at a target, highly effective.

I would use the Narwhal more but RSRD lacks the large amount of special missions for her(beyond the Makin raid, which i improved) so once have more special missions for 43 on, sure I will use it more.

Sure does, not much to it other than inserting the Marines, which is why i improved it for mod im releasing but its there.
