AOD = converging convoys + forced restart

These miniscule data observations will most likely be useless as far as Aces of the Deep is concerned, yet may conciliate u-boat drivers who've experienced the same at one time or another.

The pinpointing capability and navigation/tracking is sparse due to the program. No demerits to the program.

On the nonce: U64. Type IX in operational condition. Nine torpedoes, all internal; eight forward, one aft. Weather: sky clear; seas calm, but with swells. Date: November 24, 1940. Time: 0844. Tonnage so far: 51994. Location: CF6883.

Two Bdu/radio intercepts: CG9585 outbound. This displayed on the chart after pursuit as CG74 heading NW. No speed indicated. Funny? Yes, with no personal encounter, but mousing the displayed location gave the co-ordinates. Must be another boat out there?

U193 radioed CF68 heading East. The Contact Report of U64 read as 310 degrees with speed 5 knots.

No visual identification occurred, thankfully. Saving Game with Visual ID tends to corrupt saves, and or force restarts. Saved current status in unused save spot.

Did an "About Face", as proximity dictated (still in CF68), then slowed to pace eastbound convoy and wait for nightfall. This allowed the unintended convergence with the first convoy; the promise of a hot time in the old town tonight!

*Blink*

The DYNAMIX logo with accompanying periscope sound-byte runs, and my u-boat commanders dream becomes just that.

I never found a way around it using three different saves. The only way of saving the career from this twilight zone was to run from the area of both convoys. Sank two more ships, damaged one, shot down a Sunderland, and dove to avoid a Martlett (the smartest response, as they routinely bring aggressive escorts). By the way, the convoy that soon emerged had NO CARRIER to support the Martlett in the vicinity of Rockall Bank, and the westward Merchant Convoy was endowed with Twelve!!! escorts.

The moral of the post? This program is just as hair-pulling as any other. Adapt. Be patient. Sink them. Survive.

Sincerely flustered,
Reverie :shucks:
