Trouble staying logged in

I've run across a snag lately, not a major issue but still one I thought I should bring up.

I can't stay logged in. I will refresh the main forums index (because I always hang around:D) and I will suddenly be logged out, and every time I log back in, I tick the Remember Me checkbox and it still happens. I have made no changes to my browser, which is Firefox. in the past 5 days, when I loaded an update, this started happening yesterday.

Yea, was just gonna bring it up... Abit annoying lol.

I think the amount of time a user stays logged in without activity has been reduced. Probably to alleviate the downtime issues. :hmmm:

sounds believable. I wonder what Neal would have to say about it though:hmmm:

I haven't noticed it on my home PC, that's the only one I've checked the "remember me" option on. I assumed when it happened on other computers *cough the office cough* it was because I didn't check that option there and logging people out if they were inactive for a while reduced the strain on the system, which is fine.

I'll leave the window up at home for a bit when I'm tending to some other things and see if it logs me out here too.

But, if it needs to be done to help things run more smoothly, it's not that big a deal, especially since my username/password get filled in automatically. It's just an extra click and then at least it takes me back to wherever I was or was going within the forums anyway.

Everyone seeing this on FF 3.6?

I'm using IE7, and staying logged in... but yeah, this could be an effect of the shortened cycle.

IE 8 on the PC where I've noticed it.

Firefox 3.5.7 here, no problems. However, I do remember that I have had this problem in the past, maybe a year - year and a half ago I had this issue with Firefox. But then it went away, dont know what I did to solve it. :hmmm:

Well, now that we need your expertise, you fall short!:arrgh!:

Here's what they tell me:

Quote:

Close all browser windows/tabs except for one.

Logout of your site.

Close the final browser window.

Delete the cookies for your site.

Log back in.

This issue only occurs if you have cookie corruption and the new one fails to overwrite the old one. You can cause this simply by having a site open in two windows/tabs at the same time and closing a tab with the old cookies after one with the new cookies. It predominantly happens in browsers that store cookie information in memory, as is all of them that have a Private Browsing feature.

Let me try a couple things before you go to that trouble.

I've made some changes, so far vBulletin tech support has not been a lot of help.

If you are finding yourself logged out repeatedly, feel free to post here and include what browser and version, thanks.

I'm noticing this too. Seeing it both in the subscribed threads list in the CP as well as when just clicking on different forums/subforums.

IE8 if that makes any difference.
