I'm going to try and take some pictures of the Ozarks on my drive back to my apartment. It's definitely the best Missouri has to offer.

Some old 'Almshouses' near our local church today, now private dwellings

I've just moved back to Kings Cross in Sydney Australia ( the old Red Light district ) after living up North in Newcastle for the past 16 years - looking after my aged parents.

God there's been some changes. All the hookers have gone, the strip clubs have all closed down, there's heaps of these Thai massage places ( tiny shopfronts ). The needle exchange is gone ( I thought that was a growth market for sure ) but the Heroin shooting gallery ( run by the council ) is still there just across the road from the train station.

The local deros/bums are 20 years older ( those still alive ), and there's a new set of "blow ins" giving the place a bad name.

The place still has it's charm ( true ), but now it's overwhelmed by "New Money". Bling, bling, bling everywhere. Rich asians flaunting their wealth - playing the Bigshot. Yuk.

Not too many years ago.

Only twenty years ago known as the most dangerous city in the world but since appears to be cleaning up its act.

Still to dangerous for my liking.

I live in an old, pre-revolution apt building.

My area is nice, with groceries and caffees on every damn corner and with multiple metro stations nearby.

Nothing to complain about really.

Aye but nowhere near said areas...a little too 'upmarket' and well protected (hopefully).

A Sea Bank

This was the view from the sea bank in our neighbourood today, looking across the salt marshes. The distant bank marks the course of the 'Haven' where it reaches out into 'The Wash'
