Some time ago I visited the new International Maritime Museum in Hamburg (Germany). http://www.internationales-maritimes-museum.de/

The exhibition opened last year and shows the largest private collection of marine collectables on 10 floors.

Here are some pictures:

When I have time, I will once again go there and take my time to browse through the numerous documents and plans of WWI ships. This requires a prior application, since the archives are not publicly available. ;)

I was there last week, the exhibition is absolutely facinating!
During the the last years, a lot of new items went into the museum and now it is normal to enter the archives without invitation and read the huge documents or copy parts of them for free.
