Sonar only?

Hi all (long time no sea),

So I've grabbed the demo for the HMS Marulken (thanks to that individual who uploaded it to their drive account).

I'm doing this single player at the moment, trying to get a feel for it, it doesn't give you much in the way of help like dangerous waters (ala auto targeting) and I'm trying to pin down a target.

So I'm taking readings from my sonar and drawing on the map where I think the target is, but I can't seem to confirm that target to triangulate their range. Anyone have any tips on how to snag the range?

I though changing my heading would help, but... yeah, I'm not that experienced unfortunately.

Here's my current (flawed) process.

Set depth to 70m
Turn on the sonar and adjust gain to 1 and spread to 1.
Locate suitable engine sound (say at 45°)
Activate battery engines.
Set speed to 2kts
Set new heading 45°
Take new reading: Ship has moved to 44°
Adjust heading: 20°
Take new reading: Ship has moved to 43°

Obviously I'm doing something slightly wrong... or do I need a towed array?
