Auto TDC doesn't seem to work in TWoS

Hi,
I have tried various tutorials in the sticky posts, but I could not replicate any of these when shooting my torpedos in Auto TDC. Fact is , my torpedos will always run in a straight line out of the tube when I do either of the following:

1) Flooding torpedo tube, Select target with space key, unselect, fire; (with or without having the weapon guy following the target)
2) Flooding torpedo tube, Select target with space key, fire;

The 1st procedure should be the correct one (according to tutorials and videos), it allows you to slightly move your aiming to hit specific target parts, but it doesn't work, the 2nd procedure doesn't work either, in both cases the torpedo doesn't adjust to target's course or whatsoever, it just runs straight out of the tube (and obviously is heading for a miss). That's not how it's supposed to work.

Also the TSL is never showing on the map even when activated in the map setting, so I have no mean to figure out what's wrong. Oh, and yes, I have Manual Targeting System disabled in my gameplay options for the campaign.

Is the new TWoS not meant to be played with Auto TDC? If so then no word has been told about that in the description.

My installation:
The Wolves of Steel 2.0.0
The Wolves of Steel 2.1.0 Update
TWoS UI cmd_Auto Target ID

Any comments or corrections as for using Auto TDC with TWoS are appreciated, thanks.

And did you prohibit real targeting in one of the TDW .py files?

No, the only file I have changed with the OFEV is the User file as described in the doc, I have now just removed all mods from JSGME and re-installed them to get this user file to default again.

In the XO TDC tab I have set 'Manual targeting enforced' to FALSE.

Did you apply your gameplay setting while in the bunker? :hmm2:

Hi vdr1981, I much appreciate your intervention :)
To tell the truth: after watching your video in the past I didn't want to start over my campaign so I have edited the files GameplaySettings.cfg in the savegame slot folder for my campaign, e.g. in C:\Users\...\Documents\SH5\data\cfg\SaveGames\0000 0006 to this:

[Current]
LimitedBatteries=true
LimitedCompressedAir=true
LimitedO2=true
LimitedFuel=true
RealisticRepairTime=true
ManualTargetingSystem=false
NoMapUpdate=false
RealisticSensors=true
DudTorpedoes=true
RealisticReload=true
NoEventCamera=false
NoExternalView=false
NoStabilizeView=false
MPShowPlayerNames=true
MPShowTorpedoes=true
NoShipHealthBar=true
NoGunProjectilePath=false

and I changed also the same file in the root folder C:\Users\...\Documents\SH5\data\cfg as above. Since then they remain so after I save games.

I will start a new camapaign and do like in your video. I will report back.
Thanks,

Ok, I've started a new campaign. Before that I unload and reload all mods, and I only change this in the OFEV: SH3 UI, and the last entry of the XO TDC (enforce manual TDC = false).

I make the option changes after entering bunker, save and reload. After leaving bunker I make some target practice without shooting, after enabling the TSL in the TAI map I can see it now as a dotted line. If I enable all TDC dials I can now see that if I select and then un-select a target the dials get programmed accordingly as for speed, range etc. also moving the aim slightly will change the giro angle, so all seems to work now. Will have to see in a real battle afterwards, but I'm confident it works now.

I think the problem is solved :)
I must have made some weird changes in the OFEV before, only explanation I have. Relaoding all mods and starting new has helped.

Don't forget to open the tube doors before firing! :salute:

Thanks, yes in fact, forgetting this will delay the firing and make a miss, unless you aim at the stern of the target which will then probably hit the bow if you are near enough.

I will soon switch to Real Navigation, because I see that SH5 has ALL the necessary map tools, and even conversion tables for calculation. Very good :up:

General feedbak of TWoS:
Its' rock stable on my system (Win7 Pro x64) no crashes even after long play, but SH5 doesn't like ALT-TAB out of the game (even after pausing the game), mouse will get stucked often afterwards so I have to save/reload.

When this happens click on a preset like F3 or F5 and then return to the station.
I find the biggest cause of mouse locking when it happens in the attack periscope which continually locks going backwards and forwards.
Going to the Nav Map and exiting takes you back to the attack scope and problem over.
Don't forget you always have the Y key as well at anytime.

Yes, thanks TheBrebster, if it happens I simply use F2 and F4 (outside view and back to sub) but you need to go again to your station. The Sticky says to use Num-Pad 2 times, I will try it next time...
