anti-aliasing

Hiya.....can someone explain what the Shift Page UP / Down buttons do with respect to the above...It seems to be toggling different settings would that be correct. ie several Shift + Page Ups everything goes all nice and smooth but too far and it looks to "soft"

I have a nvidia gt220 and I also have applied the nhancer settings.

So does the above key combo overwrite card settings and if so is there a way to see what setting you actual are using at any given time ?

Does any of that make sense ?

Well, I don't think that the 'shift+page up' thing is anti-aliasing. It adds an effect called 'bloom' or something like that I think.
I have set my graphics card to 'force' anti-aliasing ingame (but I have an ATI, not nVidia) and the shift+page up actually messes that up. When I press shift+page up I get this bloom but all anti-aliasing is gone. It almost gets stock-sh3-ugly.

Dumbing it down, the SHift-pgup, shift-pgdn trick, on Nvidia cards, makes the screen brighter or darker at night. During the day it makes it really weird looking. Like a fuzzy bad hangover.

Shift+PageUp is Attack Periscope Up - for me...

And you can guess whats scope down.

I have an old install with GWX 3.0 Gold, so I dont know why is this

When you say "nhancer settings", you mean anti-aliasing? I think there are a variety of post-processing effects (if that's what they are) in SHIII that disable anti-aliasing. Whatever effect shift+page up/down adds disables it. You may have also noticed that the "wet camera lens" effect briefly disables anti-aliasing until it goes away.

All these things effect anti-aliasing, but weren't intended to. After all, the game has no built in AA of its own.

ah..

Sorry about the latest spam :/ : I just realised that I use periscope with ctrl+page buttons...

Well, back to the topic: my laptop have an ati chip- I use forced anti aliasing+anisotropic, and when pressing shift+page up, these effects remain, no problem. Shift+page up adds a simple bloom effect, you can see it on the sun... (Also interesting, that this effect doesnt used at all in periscope view) Maybe only Nvidia users have to suffer that ingame effects turn off their aa O_o as my old laptop with ati chip handles it together
