I'm getting it right away!

I'm also subscribing to GameSpot (free account), I can now download the videos... They look so sweet... They say that in Windows Vista it will look even better.

I wonder about the frame rate though? That is always why I bought X-Plane - the feeling of flight is more real.

ANyway, I'll have a friend stop by the Microsoft store and pick up a copy for me. For $5 for the full blown version, I can take a chance.

With long anticipation have I waited for this title. First, I must aquire a new computer, and I plan to wait until Vista is released before acting.

[Edit] Now down to 5.5! Iīll wait until itīs available via Bittorrent.

I might just have to check the demo out. I have always wanted a civilian flight sim since Sierra's Pro Pilot. Just never got around to it. Anyway, I was checking out the requirements. They seem benign enough, except for how much HD space you need. I have never seen a game require so much space - 14GBs! I've got a 250GB HD with still about 80% left, but 14GB is still a very large chunk. Here are the entire requirements for those interested:

System Requirements
  • Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista
  • Processor: 1.0 Ghz
  • RAM: Windows XP SP2 - 256MB, Windows Vista – 512MB
  • Hard Drive: 14GB
  • Video Card: 32MB DirectX 9 compatible
  • Other: DX9 hardware compatibility and audio board with speakers and/or headphones
  • Online/Multiplayer Requirements: 56.6 kbps or better for online play
I didn't see them listed at any other site I checked out. Somehow, I even managed to miss them on Microsoft's site.

Why is it that I do not trust those specs, especially CPU and graphics board?

Seeadler 08-10-06 08:47 AM

test it and delete it afterwards

- horrible performance on my system in medium settings
. AMD 64 X2 4400
. 2GB Ram
. GeForce 7800 GTX
( high/ultar high setting not playable )

- switching views in flight results sometimes in black rendered cockpits and pink oceans:rotfl:

- some CTD's

A demo should actually be an advertisement for a game, but however not in this case Microsoft!
Thus you do not get my money for this game.

That sure don't sound very promising. :damn: I'm downloading it right now and it is 56% downloaded. If it ran like that on your system I wonder how it will run on mine...

AMD Athlon 64 3500+
1GB Ram
Abit Radeon RX700-Pro

My system is not as good as yours and it runs ok at Medium-High settings (havenīt tried a higher setting yet). Have you maybe forgot to change "Target Frame Rate" from 20 to Unlimited?

Athlon 64 3500+
1GB RAM
ATI X800XL, 256MB

Gizzmoe 08-10-06 10:05 AM

Hereīs the framerate I get.

Global Settings: Medium-High
Scenery: High
Target Frame Rate: Unlimited

Free flight: AirCreation Trike Ultralight, Princess Juliana Intl
Clear Skies, Time set to 16:55.

38FPS while sitting on the runway, up to 50FPS in-flight. (1024x786. 4xAA/8xAF forced via driver).

Iīve played it for about an hour today, no CTDīs, and I havenīt seen any graphical anomalies yet.
