U-96 modifications throughout its service life
I'm trying to find information on any externally visible modifications done to the U-96 throughout the boat's service life. Can someone help me out with this?
Most importantly, did she keep the same conning tower throughout her life? :Kaleun_Cheers: |
Bump. Anyone?

There are books and pictures available to do research on U-96. One such book is : German U-Boat Ace Heinrich Lehmann-Willenbrock: The Patrols of U-96 in World War II Hardcover – October 28, 2017 https://www.amazon.com/German-U-Boat.../dp/0764354019 I'm sure it will fill in many of the blanks for your research. The book covers details of the patrols of U-96 under 2 captain's. https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/me...tower-just.jpg This is the conning tower of U-96 I hope this helps you. |

Maybe someone here remembers that post or thread and could provide the link. Cheers. :) Edit: I found these pictures of U-96 and thought you might like them. http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/...rdemission.jpg http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/...commandant.jpg http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/...raiDasBoot.jpg These pictures were provided by Subsim member U796 and I provided the link to the U-boat pictures here. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...149950&page=29 U796 posted the thread below and graciously provided a number of authentic pictures in his thread as did other Subsim members. Morts is a large contributor of archive U-boat photos as well. Check them out. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=149950 |
