Sturgeon periscope placement

So in game the Sturgeon's scope is on the center line and doesn't match up with the mast cutouts on the sail. Then I looked at a few photos and noticed two different layouts... Here the scopes are both on the starboard side:

And here they're both on the port side, looks like the whole control room was flipped:

Did the placement vary from boat to boat or is one of these images reversed?

One of the images was likely reversed.

LOL, the guy on the right looks like he needs a few more cups of coffee!

Probably because he spent his off watch time working on quals like a good nub.:haha:

The picture shows the proper placement, with the con display group on the port side. The kid in the foreground is the helm/fair-water planesman. The Chief just to his left is the Diving Officer of the Watch.

You are forward in control looking aft.
The officer is on the Type 2F Attack scope, with the Type 18 aft of that.

I did six years on a 637......

Is the 637 unique in having the periscopes in-line? All of the diagrams I've seen for the other classes have them side by side.

The standard 637 had the scopes fwd to aft. I am not sure about the 637 stretch hulls but I would expect them to be the same.

You lucky so-and-so. :Kaleun_Salute:
Back when I was in A school, we were all hoping to go to either a 637 or 637 stretch. 688's had been around for a while, but they were more, umm, "vanilla".

My first six years were on the 702, next six on the 670 and last four on the 723. A lot of weird stuff in between.

580 and 698.
You've got me beat on time. :salute:
