David Cassidy suffers organ failure

I don't know about any in this forum but I was certainly a fan whilst a young teen.

As if organ failure wasn't enough he is also a victim to dementia.

Yeah, I used to have that haircut in high school, whatever they called it... yikes! These last few "rock stars" getting sick and / or dying is making me feel ~really~ old... :o

Maybe that's why you kept getting your head bashed in

yeah... and part of the reason I took up squirrel whackin' to - creatively vent my anger. Authority 'round my part of the country didn't like long-hairs back then - still don't. 'Course, my hair ain't long no more. It just ain't...

Sixties is way too early to go... better than 21 (that rapper dude the other day), but still too early, at least, from my perspective.

Some duff info saying he'd succumbed reached me yesterday... seemingly retracted now... so we await further news

Two hours old:

The American actor and singer was previously rushed to hospital in Florida on Saturday, after suffering from organ failure and being in need of a kidney transplant. A spokesperson has since told Metro.co.uk David’s been moved to ICU, with reports claiming doctors have summoned his immediate family – his son and ex-wife – back to the hospital.

David Cassidy, teen heartthrob of 'The Partridge Family,' dies at 67

Quote:

(Reuters) - David Cassidy, a singer and actor whose androgynous features and jaunty voice made him a 1970s teen heartthrob on the “The Partridge Family” television show, died on Tuesday at age 67, his publicist said.

Sad day.RIP

Please, merged this with OP.

Sorry to hear of his health issues and now his loss. David was typecast like so many child actors and performers after playing in the Partridge family show and was never able to break out of that. I't wasn't uncommon for David to play the required bubble gum variety songs scripted in the show and just that quickly, when the camera's were off, to break into blues guitar work or Jimi Hendrix and Cream inspired guitar riffs.

Rest in peace David.

For a long time, David Cassidy tried very, very hard to ditch the whole Partridge Family image and re-brand himself. He even refused to sing the signature Partridge song, "I think I Love You", at live appearances, much to the dismay of his fans. There was a famed Los Angeles morning DJ team, Mark & Brian, and, on one occasion they were talking about the Partridge Family (they were very big on pop culture, past and present) and Cassidy happened to hear the show; he called in, joked around with the duo and was invited to come on the show and play some of his demos; he did and, as a result, he received offers from record companies for his work. As a bit of a 'thank you' to Mark & Brian, he agreed to appear at the annual Xmas party concert the team threw for their fans, and he finally relented and did sing "I Think I Love You" for the first time in many long years. Here is a clip of Cassidy on an LA TV morning show (ca. 1990) being cornered by M&B and agreeing to do the Xmas show:

Incidentally, Cassidy wasn't the only former teen pop heartthrob M&B got to own up to part of his past: they also got Donny Osmond to sing at another of their Xmas shows where he performed a song he had avoided like the plague, "Puppy Love"...

Organ failure is actually a symptom of dementia. We all know that suffers loose their memory and identity but in the later stages of the disease the brain can no longer "remember" how to operate the heart and other organs and this is usually how they expire. It's what took my mother this past summer.

The Frau is especially upset about this. She actually proposed to David. Of course she was a teenager at the time, but she actually sent him a proposal fan mail.

She is still a big fan of his music and I can't blame her. He had a nice voice.

So, Platapus...

You was her "fallbacK"?... :03::D
