Revell Type IX 1:72 Model

Finally decided to bulid my Revell Type IX 1:72 model. This was my first model built in about 30 years and my first ever attempt at airbrushing. I think it came out pretty good. Not too pleased with the tower color. Oh well close enough.

Next up is the Revell Type VII with after market parts by Eduard and weathering. Trying to work my way up to the Trumepter Type VII 1:48!:yeah:

Looks great! Painting and weathering are tough. Look forward to seeing your next project! :Kaleun_Applaud:

She looks really good. :Kaleun_Salute:

Be careful before you commit to weathering it.
Weathering starts out looking wrong, then it looks better, then it looks REALLY wrong if you over-do it. :o

By all means, build her the way YOU see her.
Just research the the way you want her to look before you start mixing paint.

I remember seeing some carved (wood) 688 models where they gave you the option of having some "wave high lites" added to the upper hull (imagine light grey "tiger stripes"). It kinda ruined it for me (this is IMO). You're not going to see a modern sub under water unless you're a Navy diver in the Caribbean, so what's the point? :hmmm:

Don't get me wrong, weathering looks great in a diorama type of build. It just (to me) locks your build into one day in its life, if that makes sense.
