I have a question i just watched run silent run deep for about the 100th time i have seen a lot of films where they shoot dead body’s out of the torpedo tubes to make the enemy think they are sunk now did it ever really happen or is it just Hollywood:06:

Hollywood.

Although people have been ejected from torpedo tubes all the ones I know were still alive. The SEALs have a vehicle for two men that goes out the tube. There is also a six man version that has to be attached to the outside of the submarine.

DAMN!

I'm WAY too claustrophobic to go out in a submarine though I have toured a few. You'd NEVER GET ME IN A TUBE.

My son was a torpedo monkey. When you open the outer doors for tests anything in the ocean passing by can get in there. Once those doors close again they will also crush anything not on one side or another. He has told me stories of cleaning out cut in half fish and all manner of sea life. You have to crawl in there to do it sometimes and for maintenance of certain areas of the tubes.
