Navyfield 2

So based on the Navyfield 2 ad on subsim I've been seeing in the top right corner, and the email I recently got about it from SDEnterNet, it seems that Navyfield 2 is due out on the 11th with an open beta due for 4th through to the 9th.

Though I'm not particularly interested in playing it long term, it might be an interesting distraction till World of Warships comes out. So anyone else planning to give it a try?

Steam Greenlight of it which has a couple videos about it and stuff.

Played NF 1 for a long time, been waiting for this to come out, so yes I will be playing it when it is released

So its released, been playing a bit, seems a bit fast paced for a naval game but that may be due to being in a Destroyer, they also need to work on the UI sizing system a bit as the 100% is way to big and the 80% is way too small

Been pretty fun though, I ran out of HE in one match and had to go bezerking in to try and gank someone with torps. :O:

Of course I'm just horrid at aiming, at least manual aiming, but that was the same in Navyfield 1.

They are taking signups now. I will be trying it out while on the road. So far, it looks like a solid MMO for subsimmers

I hope they get enough players to really justify a World of Tanks style Matchmaker, it unfortunately still suffers from the Navyfield 1 issue of lower tier ships and players being put against high tiers and pretty much getting wrecked.

I did managed to get a carrier however so that's a bit interesting.

really did not like NF2 at all, graphics are crap when compared to what I have seen coming from WoWS, the matchmaking is garbage, and on, and on.

I was looking into this for a little bit. It looks like an ok game but I guess I will have to try it for myself. I am also waiting for world of warships to come out as well, that looks awesome!

The latest patch seems to have...issues...

I actually won that, managed to get a good bombing run on him off and then raked him with torpedoes.

Thanks for the update, Rilder, hopefully they will work out those bugs and get Navy Field 2 up to speed. There is NO such thing as too many good naval games, I am pulling for them. :ping:

Well recent updates have put the matchmaker a fair bit more berable, looks like it's gonna be up on steam tomorrow (March 5th) so should have an influx of players.

I've currently been screwing around with German Destroyers in order to get a Sub. :O:

All,

I'm doing a review on NF2 for Subsim. My sign in identity is Pioneer and I'm using the player name Subsim as an American ship, and the player name PioneerXi as a British ship. A couple of requests please:

  1. Please add me as a friend within the game. I would like to see how the mechanism works. I'm also going to delete and block one player as well. (Don't worry, I'll re add you.)
  2. What has been your experience with the free to play ships against the purchased ships and equipment? (Opinions only.)
  3. In game chat suggest that the US ships are slightly under powered. Opinions please.
  4. I've not yet earned a submarine so I'd be interested in your experience.
  5. I'm playing both through Steam and through their website. Have you experienced any differences in game play?
  6. What's your comparison and contrast of NF2 to other naval sim games?
  7. Requests: I have noted a couple of points that I think could be improved - what are yours?

If I use your response within the article I'll cite you.

I'll be playing NF2 on Sunday August August 30 2015 at approximately 0200 and 1200 EST (USA) to collect some screen shots for the review. If you're on line and want "in" on the screen shots, please advise.

Special thanks to Neal and Subsim for allowing me to do this review, and to NF2 for providing me with some credits.

SDEnterNet have hit a winning combination here, between offering a taste on “free to play” accounts and revenue earning “paying” accounts. The mechanics of the game are extremely well balanced regardless of experience in the genre or not. This is the type of game that will hang around for years as players come and go, but will return to, based on the ease of access, the multiplayer aspect, and the personal modifications players can make to their vessels. With no structured campaign, instant gratification exists in fifteen-minute bouts, without the need to spend hours on eternal quests.
